Chalet Colchique

Beautiful and comfortable chalet with superb views located in snow-sure ski area of the Grand Massif, an easy 1 hour drive from Geneva airport. Sleeps up to 10 in 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms.

WINTER: Attached to the fourth largest ski area in France, the Grand Massif, Morillon offers a fantastic 265km of piste skiing for beginners/intermediates and a good choice of different ski schools and nurseries (takes kids from 6 months). It also provides great off piste for experts in winter in the Flaine bowl - you can still make fresh tracks here days after Chamonix is skiied out!

SUMMER: It is equally good in summer with great hiking, mountain biking, tennis and plenty of other adventurous activities like parapenting, climbing and rafting. It is also a 15 minute drive from Europe's underated answer to Yosemite - Sixt Fer a Cheval (or "the horse shoe") with its numerous waterfalls and the famous GR5 hiking route passes through the valley. There are a Via Ferrata and two zip-wire parks within 10 minutes drive also.

The chalet is set within the ancient and characterful Ferme du Visigny. There is a spacious light and relaxing open plan living/dining room with wood burning stove and fabulous views of Criou and Buet mountains. This leads onto a large balcony with plenty of seating and which gets the sun until the afternoon in winter and is a sun trap in summer.

The chalet has 4 spacious bedrooms (one double bed in each room and an additional two single beds in one of the bedrooms) and 2 bathrooms. The chalet was partly refurbished in 2011 and each bedroom has a very different character, there are 2 traditional alpine bedrooms, 1 north american chalet style bedroom and 1 provencal style bedroom. In summer there is a pretty garden planted with many of the native alpine plants which is great for great bbqs and watching the sun go down.

There is parking for two cars (one garage and one space immediately outside the front of the chalet) and there is a spacious bootroom for hanging all wet and muddy gear and we even have boot dryers for your use.

The chalet has all mod cons included - Wifi, TV, DVD, Playstation, X-Box, Fireplace, Oven, Microwave, Dishwasher, Cafetiere, Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer, Iron, BBQ, hairdryer etc etc.

We also provide two mountain bikes, tennis racquets and snowshoes. You can also help yourself to to our great DVD and music collection, our honesty box drinks shelf and to our herb patch!

We give our guests full use of our great library of proper walking and biking maps and guides to the area and give our top tips for the best restaurants and things to do on the occasional rainy day in summer (local markets, Annecy, Yvoire, local botanic garden, mountain museum) and for keen skiers we have some recommended day trips to take advantage of the fact there are so many other major resorts within a 45 minute drive (Les Gets, Chamonix, Les Portes du Soleil, Megeve). Let us know if you are a keen ski tourer and we will provide some suggestions for that also.

The free ski bus stop is 50 meters from the chalet or it is 10 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) to the cable car. In good snow conditions the bottom of the piste is a 5 minute walk back home.

The chalet is also located 5 minutes from the supermarket and Lac Bleu with its great facilities - swimming in the lake with a sandy beach, tennis courts, ice rink, volleyball court, horse riding, adventure park, trampolines, boules, crazy golf and playground. Morillon's traditional village with bakery, cafes and restaurants is a 5 minute walk and Samoen's stunning village is 5 minute drive. You can also enjoy the local markets – Morillon on Friday and Samoens on Wednesday.
