Description

Chalet Le Biou in Guillestre. Sleeps 22 in three self catering apartments.

Facility Description

The apartments are spacious and well equipped. The ground and middle floor apartments sleep eight people; both of which have three bedrooms – 2 twin rooms (which can be converted into doubles), a bunk room, and a double sofa bed in the main lounge area. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, shower-room with WC and separate WC.

These two apartments can be linked for large groups by use of internal stairs between them.

The top floor sleeps six and consists of two bedrooms- 1 double and 1 twin (which can be converted into a double). This room has an en-suite bathroom. There is a separate bathroom with WC, an open plan lounge with a double sofa-bed, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.

Location Description

We are situated in the Haute-Alpes (05), close to the Durance Valley between Briançon and Embrun. Guillestre is a small but vibrant mountain village with all the necessary cafes, restaurants and commerce within walking distance of the chalet. The village sits between the 4000m Massif Des Ecrins, and the mountainous Ubaye and Queyras regions that form the border between France and Italy. Guillestre is an ideal location for those who want to visit more than one ski station during their stay.
From the front door of the chalet you can see Risoul 1850, and high above some of the links over to Vars. Together; these resorts offer nearly 200km of pistes and excellent off-piste opportunities in the open bowls of Vars and the forests of Risoul. Well maintained roads allow you to reach Risoul in fifteen minutes or Vars in about twenty. The local bus company runs a navette service from Guillestre to Risoul and Vars.
Puy St Vincent 1400 can be reached in under 30 minutes and the lifts there give fast access to the whole resort. Whilst not as large as Risoul, this north facing resort holds its snow well and offers well over a 75km of piste and off-piste enjoyment. Snow cannon keep the main pistes open allowing the last run of the day to be the full top to bottom 1350m descent.
At Briancon, about 35-40 minutes drive, you can park beside the Pralong gondola which takes you up into the huge Serre Chevalier ski area. Or continue on and turn left uphill towards Italy where Mongenevre and Claviere sit on the col. These resorts are on the edge of the Via Lattea (Milky Way) linking some 400km of piste and the resorts that helped host the 2006 Torino Olympics.
To the south lies Embrun and the road up to the resort of Les Orres. This small but beautiful resort has many tree lined runs amongst its 88km of pistes; this makes it a great alternative for the occasional low visibility days.
