Description
Chalet La Roche, nestles within the sturdy stone walls of one of Val d'Isère's oldest buildings, a 1620s farmhouse. It is located above the smaller Chalet La Croix, it has an excellent dining room just inside the front door, with an open-plan kitchen and log fire. Next to it are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate loo. The twin room has a spare bed which pops out from underneath for an extra, half-price child. Most of the windows give splendid views of the slopes above La Daille. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, another bath and separate wc, and the spacious, sofa-strewn sitting room.
Facility Description
Rooms in order of preference (in our opinion):
Bedroom 1: Twin (13’ x 9’) on the first floor, with optional extra pull-out bed and a wall of built-in cupboards.
Bedroom 2: Double (8’ x 9’) on the first floor.
Bedroom 3: Twin (8’6” x 11’) on the second floor.
Bedroom 4: Twin (8’6” x 10’6”) on the second floor with a quirky arrangement of windows – one at floor level, and a square port-hole at eye level!
Bathrooms: Each floor has a bathroom, with twin basins and good lighting, and a separate wc.
Sitting & Dining Rooms: (13’ x 14’) Sitting room upstairs, WiFi, kitchenette. Dining room downstairs with log fire and open-plan kitchen (not included in these measurements).
Location Description
The property enjoys a good position – ten minutes’ walk from the village centre, but just two from the free and frequent bus service, and a single stop from the Funicular.
