Facility Description

Hi, Kirk and Jenny here. Just a quick note to let you know who we are... We met in 1990 while attending Kinesiology (formerly PHE) at Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario). Life after Queen's was a two year, working and traveling our way around the world expedition. The winters were spent in the French Alps running a fully catered chalet (this was in the Three Valleys ski resort, Meribel valley, France). The first summer consisted of teaching water sports in Greece with Mark Warner Holidays, and then we spent the next summer working as Jackaroos on a sheep station in Western Australia. In between we were able to travel to countries such as: Egypt, Italy, Great Britain, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.

We met some fantastic people and made some very special friends that we are still in contact with today. It was a amazing two years that went surprisingly very fast! We love to share and trade traveling stories!

The first winter back in Canada we spent in Whistler/Blackcomb (who can ski in Ontario after all that). We worked as tour representatives for Inghams(English holiday company), looking after the guests and staff of six catered chalets. On our way home to Ontario that spring we stopped in Fernie and fell in love with the Elk Valley. Within a week we had bought our first home with a chalet in our plans...

We started operating the Beaver Lodge B&B in 1999. In the winter Kirk works for the Fernie Alpine Resort Pro Ski Patrol team along with our Avalanche Rescue Dog Lily and is a Fly Fishing Guide for Fernie Wilderness Adventures in the summer. Jenny runs the B&B and works for The College of the Rockies recruiting students and promoting the Elk Valley. Our most awesome accomplishment so far is our son Tucker who was born on January 28, 2008 (65cm of snow that day...172cm that week!) We look forward to meeting you for the first time or welcoming you back to the Beaver Lodge!

Hope to see you soon!
