Description
Chalet Arkle is a traditional Savoy Chalet that caters for up to fourteen guests. Since buying Chalet Arkle late in 2006, over €100,000 has been invested updating the chalet for the comfort of our guests.
The ground floor comprises of the dining and lounge areas that feature predominantly brown leather sofas and dark woods with subtle lighting reminiscent of a chic boutique hotel. A warm welcome, great food, free flowing wine with your meal, warmed ski boots and our hot tub add to the Chalet Arkle experience.
Seven guest bedrooms are located across the first and second floors and most can be presented as either a twin or super king. Four of the bedrooms offer en-suite facilities while the others share two further bath / shower rooms. Most of the bedrooms feature large 'Super King' beds or the equivalent twin which guests tell us they appreciate, even if they reduce the open floor area. Travel cots are also available for babies.
The location is hard to beat, with the piste just 150m, that's practically ski to the door by Chamonix standards. Chamonix town centre is just a three minute walk. Three days per week we also provide a private shuttle service to the other ski areas in the Chamonix valley.
Great views surround Chalet Arkle, with Mont Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi, Les Dru to the east and the Aiguille Rouge to the west. Watching the moon set over the ridge of the Aiguille Rouge from our hot tub is truly spectacular.
Come and enjoy the chic Chalet Arkle experience and its great location for an exceptional price.
Facility Description
Arkle Tub
Chilling out in the Hot Tub is the perfect apres ski tonic after a hard day on the slopes.
However not all tubs are equal. Chalet Arkle's six man 'tub' offers a premium experience with each seat offering a different array of water jets to chill out, rejuvenate or massage away the aches and pains of the day.
Keep warm and dry
The Chalet Arkle experience is rounded off with such detail like a heated boot rack which means dry 'toasty' boots each day plus plenty of space to dry gloves, hats and jackets without cluttering up your bedroom or the public areas.
Wrap up
All guests enjoy the free use of a dressing gown - very useful for getting to and from the outdoor hot tub!
Avoid the bus queues
Three days per week, we offer a free drop off and pick up service to the other Ski Areas within the Chamonix valley - an opportunity to explore without the hassle of the last lift ski bus scrum.
Couch Potato
Chalet Arkles 42 inch plasma TV is hooked up to a UK Sky Satelite box. There is a CD and DVD player. We have a library of DVDs and board games for guests to enjoy.
Bose Sounds
Bring your ipod and take advantage of our Ipod BOSE docking station.
Private return transfers for 14 guests from Geneva Airport are included in your holiday cost. Private transfers mean no waiting around at the airport for other groups to arrive or an extended transfer journey due to a series of drop offs in various Chamonix locations. The journey from Geneva Airport takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes subject to traffic conditions.
Please advise Chalet Arkle of the number of children in your party and their ages to ensure we provide the correct child car seats. For more details of our transfer service, please see the Chalet Arkle Booking Conditions, section 10, by clicking on the 'availability' tab above.
Location Description
Ski holidays are all about 'location, location, location', avoiding long walks with your ski boots or missing out on the unique Chamonix vibe, shops and Apres Ski.
Just 150m from the Savoy ski area, by Chamonix standards this is practically ski to the door and thus avoids carrying skis too far. The Savoy area at 'valley level' is ideal for beginners and children or even for some sledging and is where the children's ski school is located. The Savoy Button Lift also provides direct access to the 'Plan Praz' telecabin, that whisks you from near the valley floor at 1090m to circa 2000m in just a few minutes. This opens up access to the extensive Brevent and Flegere ski areas, ideal for beginners, intermediates, with great off piste and a few Black runs for the more ambitious.
To help you explore the other Ski areas of the Chamonix valley, on three days we provide a courtesy drop off and pick up service.
Chalet Arkle is located on Rue Joseph Vallot (a road named after the crazy Parisian Astronomer who built an observatory on Mont Blanc in 1890 at 4200m and even proposed the building of a tramway all the way to the top) is essentially the continuation of Chamonix's main street Rue du Doctor Picard, (named after one of the first men to climb Mont Blanc).
From Chalet Arkle, turn right and its just a 3 minute walk to the 'bollards' that mark the centre of Chamonix's traffic free centre.
