Find Ski Chalets and Luxury Chalets in Tignes
So what's Tignes like?
Tignes is a resort for the dedicated ski-from-dawn-‘til-dusk, no time to look at the scenery or stop for food, hardcore skiers and boarders. What it lacks in beauty and après ski facilities it more than makes up for in the quality of the skiing and boarding – both on- and off-piste – the lifts, snow coverage, altitude and price.
Accommodation is stark with no village feel about it. Ugly square apartment blocks provide convenient, business-like shelter for the night before you’re up and back on the slopes before you can say hospital corners. But that’s OK, that’s not what you’re here for, you just need somewhere to get your head down whilst it’s too dark to ski. There are some luxury self-catered and catered chalets for those few that do mind where they sleep but mostly you’re there to get a job done during as many daylight hours as the sun provides, not worry about what happens in between times.
Although facilities for families are improving they are limited and Tignes remains, for now, a mecca for the advanced and intermediate skiers and boarders who want nothing more out of life than soft white powder.
