Verbier is part of the 4 Valleys ski area, which includes the ski resorts of Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz, and Thyon. Verbier is recognised as one of the world's premiere off-piste resorts with popular excursions being Tortin, Mont Fort, Mont Gele, Stairway to Heaven, Valon D'Arby and Creblet. Many top skiers settle in the resort to take advantage of the steep slopes, varied conditions and vibrant nightlife.
The ski area is divided into four sectors: Verbier, Les Ruinettes, Les Savoleyres, and Bruson. Verbier forms the western section of the 4 Valleys ski area and only has one access road, which starts in the town of Le Châble and is around 2 hours drive from Geneva, 1 hour from Chamonix and 1 hour from Aosta.
